Professor Ian Colbeck from the University of Essex, UK, will be at UFMS on October 21-25, in continuing the activities of the project “Development of nanomaterials for the induction of oxidative processes: applications of environmental, energy and health interests” (CAPES-PrInt, 88881.311921/2018-01).

In addition to discussing the current results and planning research actions with the project members throughout the week, he will give the lecture “Physicochemical properties of aerosol and its impact on environment” on October 24 at 2 pm, covering the fundamentals of aerosol science including forces acting on particles, sedimentation, diffusion, and coagulation.

On October 25 at 9 am, the invited talk “Impact of nanoparticles on the environment” will be presented. All events will take place at the Physics Institute of the Federal University of Mato Grosso do Sul (Room 9). The activities will be open to the public, including undergraduate and graduate students, researchers, and faculty from UFMS and other institutions.

Prof. Ian Colbeck is a professor in the School of Life Science of the University of Essex with studies on physicochemical properties of aerosols, nanoparticles in the environment, bioaerosols, etc. Also, he is fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society and Institute of Physics.

Prof. Ian Colbeck da Universidade de Essex, Reino Unido, estará na UFMS entre 21 e 25 de outubro de 2019 dando continuidade as ações do projeto “Desenvolvimento de nanomateriais para indução de processos oxidativos: aplicações de interesses ambientais, energéticos e da saúde” (CAPES-PrInt, 88881.311921/2018-01).

Além de discutir os resultados recentes das pesquisas e planejar ações com os demais pesquisadores do projeto ao longo da semana, ele apresentará o seminário “Propriedades fisicoquímicas de aerossol e seu impacto no meio ambiente” no dia 24 de outubro às 14h, abordando os fundamentos da ciência do aerosol: forças atuando sobre partículas, sedimentação, difusão, coagulação, etc.

No dia 25 de outubro às 9h, a palestra “Impacto das nanopartículas no meio ambiente” será apresentada. Todos os eventos ocorrerão no Instituto de Física da Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso do Sul (Sala 9). As atividades são abertas ao público, incluindo estudantes de graduação e pós-graduação, pesquisadores e professores da UFMS e de outras instituições.

Prof. Ian Colbeck é professor na Escola de Ciências da Vida da Universidade de Essex e tem se dedicado ao estudo de propriedades fisicoquímicas de aerossóis, nanopartículas no ambiente, poluição ambiental, bioaerossóis, etc. Além disso, ele é membro da Royal Meteorological Society e Institute of Physics.
