This mission to Tucson, AZ, USA, was the first one. In this mission, Prof. Paulo de Tarso gave talks about the whole project, discussed ideas, preliminary results and about exchanging professors and grad students. Besides, an agreement between UFMS and University of Arizona has been initiated aiming at doctorate double certification.

A meeting with very known researchers, members of the project, has been set: Mark Nearing (USDA-ARS), Peter Troch (UofA), Hoshin Gupta (UofA), Russ Scott (USDA-ARS), Phil Heiman (Head of the USDA-ARS), Chris Scott (UofA), Richard Hawkins (UofA), Don Slack (UofA), to cite a few.

The meeting resulted in an invitation to write a book chapter in 2019 with Prof. Hoshin Gupta.
