Mission to University of Tokyo and IGARSS 2019
Prof. Dr José Marcato Junior attended IGARSS 2019 between July 25/07/2019 and
02/08/201, held in Yokohama, Japan. IGARSS is one of the most important annual symposium
on the research field of Remote Sensing and Computer Vision. IGARSS 2019 had about 3,000
participants.
In addition to the Prof. José, two undergraduate (David Di Martini and Yuri Becker) and
one graduate student (Henrique Siqueira) from Environmental Technologies (PGTA) attended the
symposium. These students received grants from the event.
During the event, Prof. José held meetings with renowned researchers in the field of
Computer Vision and Remote Sensing: Prof. Dr Jonathan Li (University of Waterloo/Canada), Dr.
XiaoXiang Zhu (DLR and TU Munich/Germany) and Dr. Chang Huang (Northwest University/China).
An effective partnership with the Dr. Li began during the event. Given the research
overlaps, we have already collaborated in the development of two scientific articles for high
impact journals (ISPRS Journal – IF: 6.942; and IEEE Transactions on Geoscience and Remote
Sensing – IF: 5.63).
Dr. Zhu and Dr. Huang showed interest on collaborating on our research project. Details
regarding their effective collaboration is under discussion.
